Gurinder Singh

Java Backend Engineer

I build backend systems with Spring Boot and REST APIs — and I care about making software that works for everyone, including the people most interfaces forget. Currently pursuing an MCA at VIT Bhopal.

01 — About

/* Who I am */

I'm a backend engineer based in Bhopal, India, working primarily in Java and Spring Boot. My interest sits in the parts of a system people never see — data modelling, API design, authentication, and the decisions that determine whether an application still holds up a year later.

Alongside engineering, I've spent since January 2023 as a Technical Trainer at Vision Aid, teaching advanced Excel and technical computing to differently-abled learners. That work reshaped how I build software: accessibility isn't a compliance checkbox added at the end, it's an architectural decision made at the start. This site is built on that principle — semantic structure, full keyboard navigation, and screen reader support throughout.

I'm currently completing an MCA at VIT Bhopal University and looking for backend engineering roles where I can work on systems that matter.

02 — Experience

/* Where I've worked */

  • 2023-01 → INFO Technical Trainer · Vision Aid
    • Trained differently-abled learners in Advanced MS Excel, computer applications, and technical computing skills.
    • Developed course curriculum and training material adapted for screen reader users.
    • Contributed to the Learning & Development team on course structure and delivery.
    • Mentored learners one-on-one through practical, assessment-based progression.
  • 2023-05 → 2023-07 DONE Data Structures & Algorithms Intern · Skolar
    • Completed a three-month intensive training and internship in data structures and algorithms.
    • Focused on algorithm optimisation, complexity analysis, and structured problem solving.

Bhaabi Gaming Club

In development
Problem Mainstream mobile card games are effectively unplayable with a screen reader — visual-only state, unlabelled controls, and no audio feedback shut blind players out entirely.
Approach An Android card game platform built accessible-first, supporting Bhaabi, 99, UNO, and Hand Cricket. Every game state is announced through TTS and screen reader support, with online multiplayer and in-game voice chat so play stays social rather than isolated.
Engineering Multi-game architecture sharing a common engine, real-time multiplayer state synchronisation over Firebase, and a full accessibility layer covering navigation, turn announcements, and card recognition.

FPMIS — Forensic Post-Mortem Intelligence System

Lead Developer
Problem Forensic case work is fragmented across autopsy reporting, evidence handling, and missing-person records — so unidentified bodies and open cases that should connect often never do.
Approach A full-stack forensic case management platform spanning eight integrated modules: case management, digital autopsy reporting, time-of-death estimation, decomposition tracking, evidence handling, and cross-case alerts. Selected as a finalist and presented at HealthHack 2026, VIT Bhopal University.
Engineering Led a team of five developers. Designed a 100-point weighted matching algorithm linking unidentified bodies to missing-person records across seven attributes, returning ranked results with confidence tiers. Built secure REST APIs with JWT authentication, role-based access control, and full audit logging over a normalised PostgreSQL schema, with mobile-first delivery for field access.

Salesalizer

Shipped
Problem Retailers plan inventory and staffing against guesswork, because historical sales data sitting in a database says nothing about next month on its own.
Approach An AI-powered sales prediction platform for retailers and small businesses, pairing time-series forecasting with an interactive dashboard for surfacing trends and insights.
Engineering Integrated Prophet models for time-series forecasting, reaching up to 95% accuracy on sales prediction. Implemented role-based access control, authentication, and session management across a Node/Express API backed by MongoDB.
